A History of Caring

The Bellas Charity Golf Classic was started in 1998 by the family of Michael and Jared Bellas. Michael Bellas died of cancer at the age of nineteen. Jared developed significant physical infirmities at the age of four due to a medical misdiagnosis that resulted in his requiring around the clock therapy and care.

The intent of the Bellas family was to raise money which would be used to honor the memory of Michael as well as help worthy organizations and families in need of financial assistance. Over the 10 years that the Bellas Charity Golf Classic has taken place it has raised over $250,000. These proceeds have been used to fund the Michael & Jared Bellas Scholarship Fund at Holy Redeemer High School in Wilkes Barre, PA as well as countless local organizations and families which demonstrated worthy missions and or financial need.
